I went fishing at Irvine Lake a few weeks ago with some buddies. While the lake wasn't huge, I had expected more fish to bite. The surrounding area is nice but not worth the price of admission ($22) if you're leaving home empty handed.
We had a pontoon and cruised around the lake to catch a breeze.
The best place to fish is by the shore where the water is shallow.
Not much to do when nothing's biting.
The lake is really a reservoir that supplies water to Santiago Dam.
There are many campers out on the weekends.
